Best Offline AI Image Generators for iPhone (2026)

Short answer: there is no single best offline AI image generator for iPhone; the right one depends on what you want to do. Based on the App Store listings and official pages we read on September 30, 2026: Draw Things is the deepest free option, Conjure is the simplest free one, PhoneDiffusion and Oasis SoloGen AI list inpainting, image-to-image and upscaling in a simpler app, and LocalGen and Off Grid AI reach back to iPhone 12. Apple Image Playground is free but does not work offline in iOS 27.

They change and vary by country, so check the listing before you pay. “Per its listing” means the offline claim is the developer’s own; the airplane-mode test further down lets you confirm it yourself.

These are the apps that come up in AI assistant answers and App Store searches for an offline AI image generator on iPhone, plus Apple’s built-in option. For each one we read the current App Store listing or the developer’s own page on September 30, 2026 and recorded what it states: how you pay, whether generation runs on the device, which devices it asks for, and what it is built to do. We did not run timed benchmarks or score image quality, so the order below is not a ranking.

Draw Things: the most capable free option

Draw Things, from Draw Things, Inc., is a free app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Its listing says local creation needs no internet and no subscription, and that prompts and images stay on the device. It supports a long list of model families, imports community models and LoRAs, trains LoRAs on the device, and offers ControlNet, inpainting, outpainting and video. Optional cloud compute is available if you want more power than your device has; in-app purchases include Draw Things+ at $8.99.

Conjure: free and simple

Conjure, from Pixel Management, is free with no in-app purchases listed. It runs an SDXL model (DreamShaper XL Lightning) on the device through Core ML, with no account and no internet needed after setup. Its photo editor applies style presets such as anime, watercolor or sketch; the listing is upfront that it is not built for precise edits like object removal. It asks for 6 GB of RAM: iPhone 13 Pro and newer, or an M1 iPad Pro or iPad Air.

LocalGen: text-to-image that reaches iPhone 12

LocalGen, from Aina Artificial intelligence LLP, generates images from text on the device and works offline after the download, per its listing. It is free with Pro purchases at $4.99 a week, $9.99 a month or $29.99 lifetime. The developer recommends an A14 chip or newer (iPhone 12 and later) and says iPhone 11 and earlier are not supported, even though the App Store compatibility list is wider.

PhoneDiffusion: a wide local editing kit

PhoneDiffusion, from Akro-in, runs Stable Diffusion 1.5 and SDXL models on the device and lists text-to-image, live generation, inpainting, image-to-image, background removal and upscaling up to 4x. Its listing says it works offline after the required model is installed. Version 3.7 also added optional cloud models, so it is no longer local-only; stick to the local models if offline is the point. It is free with monthly, yearly and $24.99 lifetime options.

Aista: style presets and inpainting on newer devices

Aista, from Rarico Ltd, generates images on the device in styles such as photo realism, anime and illustration, restyles your own photos, and repaints a masked area. Its listing says no internet is required. It needs iOS 26 and an iPhone 14, iPad Air (5th generation), iPad Pro (2021) or newer. It is free with monthly, yearly and lifetime purchases.

Pick it if you want presets plus inpainting and already run iOS 26. It is newer and has too few ratings for an App Store score yet.

Oasis SoloGen AI: editing for one price

Oasis SoloGen AI, from Chisel Theory LLC, downloads about 16 GB of models once and then generates on the device with no internet, accounts or analytics, per its listing. Text-to-image is free. A single $9.99 purchase unlocks image-to-image with depth guidance, inpainting, 4x upscaling, face restoration and an on-device assistant. It is optimized for iPhone 15 Pro and newer and M-series iPads.

Pick it if you want editing without a subscription and have the storage to spare.

Mortal AI: many styles for text-to-image

Mortal AI describes itself as fully offline, on-device SDXL text-to-image with a large library of styles, negative prompts and seed control. Pro is sold as $3.99 a week, $29.99 a year or $39.99 one time. The listing recommends iPhone 14 Pro and newer, and it runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Pick it if you mostly want prompt-to-picture with ready-made looks.

Off Grid AI: images as part of a local AI suite

Off Grid AI, from Wednesday Solutions, is a free, open-source app that runs chat, vision, voice input and Stable Diffusion image generation on the phone. It works in airplane mode after a model download and can also use bigger models on a computer on your own network. Its website lists optional Pro at $69 once or $4.99 a month. It supports iPhone 12 or newer on iOS 17, and Android.

Private Diffusion: recent models, in beta

Private Diffusion, from Numen Technologies Limited, is in a free TestFlight beta with launch pricing not decided. Its website lists ten text-to-image models, including Flux.2 Klein 4B, with the largest needing a 16 GB iPad or Mac, and says it works offline once a model is downloaded. It does not do image-to-image or inpainting, and exported images carry a small watermark. It needs version 26.4 and at least 8 GB of memory.

Apple Image Playground: free, but not offline

Image Playground comes with Apple Intelligence on supported iPhones, iPads and Macs. Apple’s WWDC 2026 session says the reimagined iOS 27 version runs on Private Cloud Compute and has a usage limit because it relies on server models, with more access on most iCloud+ plans. That makes it a strong free choice when you are online, and the wrong one for a flight.

How to choose

1. Check your device first. Memory decides which models run, so a listing’s minimum device matters more than its feature list.
2. Decide whether you need to edit your own photos. Conjure, LocalGen, Mortal AI and Private Diffusion lean toward text-to-image; PhoneDiffusion, Oasis SoloGen AI, Aista and Draw Things add masked editing.
3. Look at how you pay, not just the headline price. Several apps are free to download but sell weekly or monthly plans next to a lifetime option.
4. Plan for storage. Models are large; Oasis SoloGen AI alone asks for about 16 GB.
5. Run the airplane-mode test before you rely on any app offline.
